Each is followed by a discussion of the sentence and a revision that addresses the problem. 1. The policy is effective, proportionate, and meets the standards. Effective has the verb is, and standards is supported by meets, but proportionate has no dance partner. It needs the twin of is, or must share the original instance of the verb, as shown here: ââ¬Å"The policy is effective and proportionate and meets the standards.â⬠2. It was a stated requirement not to further increase but, rather, to reallocate capital. This sentence is not wrong, but it suffers from a delayed keyword. Itââ¬â¢s not clear until after the sentence is read that the intention is to counterpoint the idea of increasing capital with the idea of reallocating capital; capital is too far removed from the first word it is intended to be associated with. When capital is located immediately after that first word, the sentence is clearer, and a pronoun can replace the keyword at the end of the sentence: ââ¬Å"It was a stated requirement not to further increase capital but, rather, to reallocate it.â⬠3. We appreciate your time and contributions to our study. If ââ¬Å"and contributionsâ⬠is omitted from this sentence, what remains is the ungrammatical ââ¬Å"We appreciate your time to our study.â⬠To clarify that time and contributions are not intended to be strictly parallel, the pronoun your should be repeated in order to produce two distinct clauses, where a repetition of ââ¬Å"we appreciateâ⬠is implied after and: ââ¬Å"We appreciate your time and your contributions to our study.â⬠4. They might be confronted with situations that they may not have experienced before and might test them to their limits. In the simple sentence ââ¬Å"They might be confronted with situations that they may not have experienced before,â⬠that is optional. However, in a more complex statement, it is necessary not once, but twice, to signal that ââ¬Å"they may not have experienced beforeâ⬠and ââ¬Å"might test them to their limitsâ⬠are parallel phrases: ââ¬Å"They might be confronted with situations that they may not have experienced before and that might test them to their limits.â⬠5. The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the National Credit Union Administration, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued a joint statement on the new rules. But these concepts were restricted to small scale operations in these organizations. Development of cloud enabled large scales businesses reaping benefits from resource aggregation and virtualization. It contains similar characteristics to Utility computing, Grid computing, High Speed Computers and clusters. But cloud computing essentially defers from Utility and Grid computing, due to many attributes. Example: services, deployment, associated issues and scope for development. These are described in detai l in the proceeding chapters. Furthermore, public used remotely hosted servers for connecting to the internet and obtaining web services such as Gmail, chat, e-banking and social-networking in large scale for a considerable time period in the history. But resource virtualization was not recognized as a possible venture involving vast economic benefits until the development of cloud in recent history. Cloud computing involves large scale aggregating and vitalizing of IT assets. It delivers a number of economic and operational benefits to all the consumer segments (Gong, Liu, Zhang, Chen and Gong, 2010). It has a growing potential to decrease the firmsââ¬â¢ production costs, create virtual business firms and market business process as a service in modern economies (Earnst and Young, 2012). In What Way Does The Final Scene of Act 1 Demonstrate Dramatically The Tensions Between The Characters Which Will Lead to Tragedy? The final scene of Act 1 in Arthur Miller's 'A View From The Bridge' demonstrates dramatic tension in a variety of different ways. It is made fairly clear from the final moments of the act when Alfieri returns to the stage that the play will end in tragedy. Miller shows this through dialogue between the characters and in the plentiful stage directions with which he liberally sprinkles the text. There is a range of conflict present in the scene. The central conflict however, involves Eddie's unacknowledged jealousy towards Rodolfo; this is the strongest. The above dispute is clearly visible when Eddie goes to visit Alfieri for the first time. He makes insubstantial claims about Rodolfo's sexual persuasion without ever calling him a homosexual. Eddie asserts to Alfieri that "the guy ain't right" and that he "ain't no tenor". He continues by adding that if one was to enter a room when Rodolfo was singing, "you wouldn't be looking for him, you'd be looking for her". He is incredulous that there is no recourse in the law that will prevent Rodolfo, a submarine or illegal immigrant, from marrying Catherine. When he leaves Alfieri's office, Eddie has made it clear he would never betray the cousins. Nevertheless the audience is made to feel that he may yet take the recurring theme of personal justice into his own hands, if not by informing the authorities of their illegal presence in the country, then by some other means. This is shown by the extent of Eddie's anger when he says "he's stealing from me" and "[he] puts his filthy hands on her like a goddam thief." Miller conveys th... ... the characters that will lead to tragedy through the way he very carefully structures the play so that the central tension, Eddie versus Rodolfo, increases as the action unfolds. This is true of the 'minor' tensions too, e.g. Beatrice versus Eddie. The tensions themselves are built up by the pithy dialogue and the meticulous stage directions, e.g. "rubbing his fists into his palms; diverting their attention; he senses he is exposing the issue and he is driven on". Miller mimics Greek tragedy with a "chorus" - Alfieri - who comments on the action. Alfieri does this job well and is constantly hinting at the tragic ending he knows is going to unfold. Ironically, after the first few scenes the audience realise that Alfieri was right at the beginning and the play is going to end in tragedy. How it will come about is still unclear at the end of Act 1, however.

2-Minute Mixer Classroom Ice Breaker Game for Adults
You may have heard of 8-minute dating or speed dating, where 100 people meet for an evening full of 8-minute dates. Each person talks to someone for 8 minutes and then move on to the next person. Eight minutes is a long time in the classroom, so weââ¬â¢ll call this ice breaker a 2-minute mixer. Ice breakers facilitate group participation, so theyre a great way to get people interested in an event or activity, relax, open up and mingle. Ideal Size for a Classroom Ice Breaker This is a great mixer for large groups, especially if you dont require that everyone talks to everyone. Use this game for Introductions in the classroom or at a meeting, especially when you have space enough to move around. Time Needed Plan on 30 minutes or more, depending on the size of the group. Ice Breaker Materials Grab a clock, watch and a whistle or some other noise maker. You can also provide canned questions if you want, but itââ¬â¢s not necessary. Adults rarely have trouble making conversation on their own! Instructions Ask people to get up, pair up, and chat for 2 minutes with each other about whatever interests them. Youââ¬â¢ll be the timer. When 2 minutes are up, blow your whistle or make some other sound loud enough for everyone to hear. When they hear your signal, everyone must find a new partner and chat for the next 2 minutes. If you have flexibility, allow enough time for everyone to have 2 minutes with every other person. If youre using this game at the beginning of a course or meeting, combine it with introductions. After the mixer, ask each person to give his or her name and share something interesting they learned from someone else during the mixer.
